Yancy And Friends: ‘Little Praise Party: Taste and See’ album review

Throughout the last decade, Yancy regularly rotated between her singer/songwriter side and more vertically-minded material, though now we find Christian music’s most cheerful chameleon logging the fourth release in her worship music series for youngsters. But just because her primary audience is kids this round doesn’t mean adults won’t have plenty to latch onto thanks to her cliche-free and tasteful musicality. Both the standard album and companion DVD feature 15 upbeat sing-a-longs that are all tons of fun, but not annoying to their folks, who can also take comfort that it’s rooted in Biblical lessons. For instance, “Super Wonderful” could easily be a Top-40 tune, “Obey” never made a plea for children to cooperate sound sweeter, while “It’s A Happy Day” is sure to offer a jolt of jubilation.
