Every year around this time brings a customary chart-topping documentation of the most recent young adult worship gathering known as the Passion Conferences. This year’s edition, Whole Heart (buy), eschews many familiar voices to highlight the movement’s newer talent (e.g. there’s no Chris Tomlin or Christy Nockels to be found here), but the end result remains the same—fresh congregational songs centered on the gospel and God’s character. Churches will undoubtedly flock to the title track and “Hallelujah Our God Reigns” for corporate use even if the largely inspirational first half runs together. What helps sonically in this batch is a lively second half, anchored in Crowder’s “Ghost” and the stellar vocal work of Tauren Wells on “All My Hope.”
