Memphis May Fire fans need not be concerned; Matty Mullins’ solo turn doesn’t negate his commitment to the band. The front man’s solo debut reveals an interesting musical curve ball from the metalcore typically associated with MMF, as Unstoppable (buy) is a pop record through and through. From the repetitive, hopeful refrain on the title track to the “woah-oh-oh” sing-along of “The Great Unknown,” Mullins sounds right at home with this decidedly lighter fare. “Until I Need You” is the album’s closing track and climactic moment, a personal track that shows off Mullins’ heart and talent more than others. For MMF fans interested in different hues from their vocalist, Unstoppable will be a fun venture to sample and a path to hearing more of Mullins’ message.
