This process, I came into it not knowing if I wanted to do another solo project for a while. I thought I was just here at Bethel to write songs for the church. I thought maybe I’d put them out on our worship albums here at Bethel and whatever. I was thinking I’d do the same thing a couple years down the road if I had enough songs.

However, after being here for sixth months, I became close friends with Bobby Strand. We’ve become best friends and our wives are best friends, too. They’ve helped us not miss home quite as much. We had them over for Christmas that year and Bobby said, “Since I first heard you sing, I’ve wanted to do an album with you. Let’s start writing and see what happens.” Really, the beginning of this project came from Bobby dreaming for me. Then I started to get a vision for what this could be. Once we wrote the song “The War Is Over,” I knew this was a thing I wanted to go after.
