Do everything you do to the glory of the One Who made you
Cause He made you to do
Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
and tell the story of grace

“Do Everything” re-creation

“…whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
1 Cor. 10:31

Don’t you love it when someone does the smallest thing and it absolutely makes your day? Recently I had that happen to me. I was at the checkout of a grocery store. The cashier was upbeat and we started chatting. She still had 8 hours left in her shift, but she had a great attitude. Quickly I learned she was a Christian and I was somewhat familiar with her church. We ended up having a delightful conversation and my dreaded errand of grocery shopping turned out to be quite pleasant! She made my day and glorified God by being helpful and cheerful. Then I went to a fast-food drive through and had the opposite experience. I asked the young man how he was doing, and sourly he replied, “Just waiting for my shift to end.” Gosh! No warm fuzzies there! That quickly fizzled any further conversation I wanted to have with him.

So often we think it’s only the Billy Graham’s and Mother Teresa’s of the world who glorify God with everything they do. Certainly their hearts of compassion and sacrificial actions are most noble, yet each one of us can glorify God in big and small ways every day.

Lord, may I glorify You
   by encouraging someone today…
by thanking You always in all things…
by doing my work heartily, as unto You, knowing that
as I serve others, I’m serving You.

I am Yours because of grace; I pray that every little thing I do bring a smile to Your face!
