The Getty’s: ‘Joy—An Irish Christmas Live’ album review

Keith and Kristyn Getty have developed an exciting new Christmas tradition in recent years with the release and subsequent tours of Joy: An Irish Christmas. Recorded at the historic Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville, the Getty’s have weaved together a live recording of their 2011 album of the same name—a stunning set of 18 Christmas songs (including eight new compositions). It features a dynamic, spirited array of holiday classics and new songs alike. “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” and “Carol of the Bells” become festive favorites on the Getty’s watch, while the duo also include their biggest hit “In Christ Alone” on this yuletide ride. Equal parts exuberant and contemplative, The Getty’s Joy: An Irish Christmas Live will be Christmas treasure for many.
