Delivered as if Jordan Feliz and a few of his band mates themselves were sitting in your living room and giving a personal concert, this 1 Mic 1 Take EP (buy) release will please both the Feliz super-fan and casual coffee shop-hopper alike. With it just being announced that Feliz is in the studio recording his sophomore Centricity Music album, this offering comes both as a nice surprise and a stocking-stuffer type gift some three-plus months before Christmas arrives. The five songs—tracks featured on his debut The River (buy)—play exactly as the title describes, with noticeable hints of slight imperfections, it gives the intended feel plus “all the feels.” While it leaves us anticipating his next studio LP even more, those who follow Feliz closely will appreciate the vulnerability that this rare recording provides. After all, this Capitol Records-led venture has only occurred a few times, most notably with Halsey, Smokie Norful, and Tasha Cobbs Leonard.
