Holly Starr returns and brings to her latest set, Human (buy), a more seasoned sound birthed both from exciting new life experiences (getting married in 2015) to the somber from the death of a family member (recently, her grandmother), all rounding out this seven-track release. Of those life defining moments, two distinct songs, “Umbrella” (written for husband Chris Rumbles) and “Sailing” serve to display the maturity of penmanship and performance now defining Starr. Co-produced by DREAM Records artist Matthew Parker, David Thulin, and hit-maker Bryan Fowler (tobyMac, Mandisa), Human mostly employs the power-pop sounds created by machines (think Hollyn meets Rapture Ruckus), but its still personable nonetheless, and coming from love and loss, what could be more human than that?
