Colton Dixon: ‘The Calm Before The Storm’ album review

In a unique twist of marketing, Colton Dixon packages and releases a set of acoustic alternatives and transformed remixes on the combined The Calm Before The Storm. Fans can enjoy all ten modifications of Dixon’s biggest songs on the aforementioned title, or purchase them separately on EPs simply named Calm and STORM, containing five tracks each. Both EPs feature hits from his two previously released albums, A Messenger and Anchor. If picking favorites, we like the peaceful and surprisingly engaging Calm. Drawing listeners in with his heartfelt vocals and signature piano skills, the American Idol alum also duets with sister and rising star Schyler Dixon on “You Are.” Together, the collection is a smart collision that provides a soundtrack to fit any mood of the day.
