Despite her resume as a nationally known worship leader, Christy Nockels intended her first holiday album, The Thrill Of Hope (buy), to be a personal listening experience. The intimacy and intricacy of the arrangements clarify this vision with beautiful takes on “O Come O Come Emmanuel” and “O Holy Night.” Christmas music fans will also appreciate a handful of newer songs to add to holiday catalog, including the spirit “Song In The Air,” the worshipful “Wrap This One Up” and the mid-tempo beauty of “Amaryllis.” The latter reminds us that, “When everything is cold and dark, God’s love breaks through.” What a beautiful yuletide reminder for all of us.
