Hats off to Casting Crowns for offering up a welcome addition to any holiday music collection with the inspiring and inviting It’s Finally Christmas (buy). While limited in scope to only six songs, each track feels intimately a part of the Christmas canon, as if they’d been favorites all along. New songs like “Make Room,” which features Matt Maher, and “Somewhere In Your Silent Night” are particular favorites, but even familiar tunes have been reworked to offer something fresh amid the familiarity. The band’s rendition of “Gloria/Angels We Have Heard on High” is a real treat to lead off the album, while “O Holy Night” retains its haunting beauty amid small changes.
