Paul Wilbur—best known as a singer, worship leader, and singer/writer of Shalom Jerusalem—didn’t always believe in Jesus of the New Testament. As the son of a Jewish father and a Baptist mother, he was always slightly skeptical about what exactly to believe. But then one day his worlds converged, and for the first time, Paul fully encountered the physical presence and miraculous power of God. While practicing his father’s Jewish traditions, Paul heard a very distinct sound, what he calls the “roar from Zion”—the basis of his latest book, aptly named Roar from Zion: Discovering the Power of Jesus Through Ancient Jewish Traditions.
In his book, Paul encourages believers to embrace their church heritage and traditions—because in the end, both Jews and believing Gentiles believe in the same God. By understanding our Jewish friends, and our combined traditions and heritage, we can experience God in a whole new way.
