Kansas City, MO (May 24, 2021)
In a world marked by uncertainty, fear and anxiety can sneak up from the shadows of the unknown. By singing the word for the last twenty years, singer/songwriter and International House of Prayer in Kansas City worship leader Laura Hackett Park has found healing through moments of conversation with God. Inspired by His promises of deliverance, Laura bears witness to Isaiah 43 which says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you… when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned.” In a rare, hidden devotional worship set captured by Arrowhead Music at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City (IHOPKC), The Secret Place short film (out now) will have a 4-song EP released May 28th, 2021 in partnership with Integrity Music; both an offering and antidote to fear, The Secret Place is an immersive moment of worship with God.

“I feel like fear is the number one offense of the enemy against us. For so many years, I was living on the defense. I feel like the Lord has been saying ‘I want to teach you how to live in My glory cloud. I want to teach you how to live in My presence, the secret place.’” —Laura Hackett Park

Woven together in a devotional format, prayer room songs in The Secret Place are original compositions by Laura Hackett Park; the last song of the EP, “Anointed One,” was co-written with friends (Anna Blanc, Olivia Buckles and Philip Yoo) at a songwriting camp for the worship leaders at IHOPK headed by Laura’s husband, Jonas Park. Featured on The Secret Place are “Shalom,” “Yeshua Messiah,” “You Must Increase” and “Anointed One,” prayer room songs curated to help inspire conversation with the Lord. Filmed one evening as the Global Prayer Room was undergoing repairs, The Secret Place set appears almost under construction, like God’s vessels, so He may increase. Sacred not because of the room itself, the location of this short film is beautiful as the place where so many people have come to seek and worship Him.

Citing musical influences including Misty Edwards, Sara Groves and Lauryn Hil, Laura Hackett Park says conversations with her Lord Jesus are the heart behind her lyrics. To date, Laura has personally contributed in leading and singing 10,000 hours of live worship. She has led worship at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, nine Onething Conferences (20K+ in attendance, annually), at The Send event in Orlando, FL, and on the shores of the Sea of Galilee in Israel for GOD TV in 2013; with 30K+ monthly listeners on Spotify, her music has amassed over 28M streams through digital service providers with placements on Spotify playlists. As an intercessor of prayer, she continues to embrace this calling; in a similar way, being the Mother of three children has reminded her the power of a Kingdom-centered life.

By replacing fear with Truth, Laura hopes The Secret Place will help listeners enter a moment with God, too. “I want it to be an invitation for others to just talk to Him and see what happens, because God is in the business of wowing us and drawing us close,” Laura concludes. “I want people to feel peace, to be home, to know and be reconciled to God.”

Laura will be following The Secret Place with another EP of new material, coming later in 2021.
