Christian music artist, worship leader and songwriter Cody Carnes has kicked off the new year with a brand new single, “Christ Be Magnified,” which he debuted with a live performance at Passion 2020 last week in front of more than 65,000 students at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

“We were created to worship,” shares Cody Carnes about his new song. “We find our native cry and inmost melody when worship to Jesus is expressed out of us. The foundational prayer for my life is that Jesus would become greater in me. When I study all of Paul’s writings in the New Testament I see his teaching point to that prayer. This song ‘Christ Be Magnified’ is an attempt to put that prayer to music for the church; a song that lifts a devoted sound of worship to Christ and says ‘I’m all in. Whatever it looks like, whatever it costs. I give you my life for the rest of my life.’ Death of my flesh is the doorway into the resurrection life of Christ. I want more of that in me! It’s my prayer every time I lead this song.”

Over the last year, Carnes has regularly released powerful worship songs that the church community has embraced: “Nothing Else,” “Heaven Fall” and “Run to the Father.” His song, “Nothing Else,” has marked Carnes’ most successful single to date as it debuted on the CCLI chart in 2019.

“I feel such deep anticipation for this moment in history,” explains Carnes about performing at Passion 2020. “Ringing in the ’20s worshipping Jesus with a generation of people shook the earth. I imagine the ripple effects that come out of the divine God moments that happened at this conference will affect the world for decades to come.”

Carnes will join his wife Kari Jobe as they will be featured as special guests on the upcoming Hillsong Worship Tour that will hit more than 25 cities beginning in May. See the tour dates listed below.
