REVELATION ROCKER AND PASTOR CASPAR McCLOUD REVEALS THE STORY BEHIND HIS NEW ALBUM, GAME CHANGERS,
AND WHY HE’S TAKING HIS MUSIC AND MESSAGE ON TOUR

By Cindi Appleberry

It was a cool, crisp morning as we sat down for an energizing and inspiring chat with Pastor Caspar McCloud about this new adventure and why this new album truly is a Game Changer. Pastor Caspar, your new album is amazing! Tell us how long your band has been around?
When I walked out of the world of secular music and my recording contract with Atlantic Records in the mid-80s, I had no idea what would happen with my music from there. When I released my first Christian music album, Upon This Rock, it charted, so that was encouraging to know that my music was still relevant to others. Over the years, there have been several versions of my band. My drummer Carlos Merced and I have played and recorded together since the late 90s, and our keyboardist Donovan Lipham replaced our bassist this past year. I truly love playing with them both as the three of us agree, most importantly, we are part of a ministry above being in a band.

You have covered a wide range of musical elements in your recordings for someone exploring their guitar and singing talents. You seem to be able to play anything from Bach to hard rock, and everything in between, like alternative rock, stadium rock, inspirational worship, and even Celtic rock. What version of your band has been your personal favorite?
I think whatever version I am doing presently is my favorite. Looking back retrospectively, all the songs I have written, performed and recorded hold significant memories for me and are based on things the Lord has revealed to me as I study His almighty Word. Although one of my favorites recently is “Kingdom of Darkness,” which opens Game Changers and shares how the kingdom of darkness is falling down, as we stand up as believers and face the nephilm/giants. Our producer/engineer Glenn Taylor added some melotron strings sections, and I absolutely love how it all turned out. “We Shall Be Changed,” “Under the Blood,” and “Jesus First” are also my favorites not necessarily in that order. I know you have told me that some of your favorites are “Under the Blood,” “Beautiful Feet,” and “Heavenly Host.” Is there anything in particular that stands out about those three songs for you?

Quite honestly, I just cannot pick a favorite. I have vacillated between the three songs, and each one just grabs my heart for a different reason. And we are so grateful to you for allowing us to use “Beautiful Feet” as the theme music for our upcoming podcast. I love the powerful message, but also love the grungy, techno feel behind “Under the Blood.” And then “Heavenly Host” just embodies the essence of worshipping our God. The entire album is amazing, but these three songs truly stand out to me. So tell me, how did you meet your producer/engineer Glenn Taylor who is behind some major hit records?
I met Glenn whilst I was recording some songs with Tommy James and the Shondells a few years ago. Tommy has a very dedicated heart for the things of Christ and we have worked with a lot of the same people over the years. I love working with Tommy, as we can get into these really deep biblical discussions and talk about things like quantum physics and string theory one minute, and then tell each other hilarious concert stories the next. When Glenn heard me play the first time in his studio, he asked me if I wanted to record on some other artists’ tracks, and started calling me Hendrix McCloud and Yngwie McCloud on social media. I recall telling him Tommy is my brother in Christ, that I just really wanted to work on songs with him, and that it would just be difficult for me to play on unbelievers’ records at this point. Over a short time I quickly realized what an amazing producer/engineer Glenn is and when I asked him about producing Game Changers for me, he said,” I thought you’d never ask!” Anyway, we agreed we would make an album without any excuses. Glenn has such a perfectionist-type personality and that is the sort of person you want behind the console.

Ok, wait a minute! You’ve given me a lot there! So you are telling me that deep, intellectual topics like quantum physics and string theory are actually on the table for discussion? That’s just amazing! I believe that too many believers run away from these types of topics, never realizing how they relate biblically. I would love to be a fly on the wall for some of these discussions! Getting back to the music… you have made a number of guest appearances playing with Tommy James and the Shondells band. What is that like for you?
I love playing concerts with Tommy and his band. They are all exceptionally talented musicians and it’s amazing for me to get to play all those major hit songs with Tommy and the lads I grew up listening to. When Tommy introduces the band he will emphasize to the audience that I am a pastor, which gives me a unique position to pray and minister to people afterwards. I am guessing not many pastors are given such opportunities and I don’t take it lightly. When I walked out of secular music in the 80s I decided I was not going to play another note unless I played it for the Lord Jesus. I also pretty much stopped listening to secular music and dove head first into the deep things of God. One of my mentors, Phil Keaggy, was a big influence on me in that regard, and so I just basically played in churches or church-related meetings. I have also lead worship at numerous prophesy conferences here and in the U.K. where I have also been invited to be a speaker along with some of the most brilliant and erudite best-selling authors and researchers. I’ve had the privilege of ministering with the likes of Derek and Sharon Gilbert, Dr. Michael Lake, Dr. Tom Horn, Dr. L. A. Marzulli, and Pastor Carl Gallups, just to name a few. By the way, Derek Gilbert also wrote the forward for my last book, Unmasking the Future, and basically summed up my entire book in one page, explaining why there are so few true believers in the world today. But I digress…..Then a few years back, one of my friends who knew I had come close to touring with Rick Derringer in my youth insisted I come with him to see Rick play a concert near us. Rick has also come to salvation in Christ, and we pretty much picked up where we left off so many years before, except now we are being lead of the Holy Spirit. Through Rick I met Kenn Moutenot and was invited to perform at the 50th anniversary of Woodstock (which they renamed WE Festival 2019) along with many of the original legendary artists. Kenn also arranged for me to preach there on Sunday morning.

There have been those who have criticized you for playing secular concerts. What’s your take on that?
Yes, I know some professing Christians have criticized me for playing in any secular concerts, and I do understand their concerns. However, I would have to ask them if they want me to continue to preach to the choir each week or go into all the world and share the Gospel? That is our mandate in The Great Commission.

Now I want to get your feedback from what others have said about you. Joe Horn of Skywatch TV has said this about you, and I quote: “Game Changers” is perhaps the best work from legendary guitarist Pastor Caspar McCloud to date! This expression filled, powerhouse of an album is an incredible, toneful, masterpiece that people MUST become aware of! Caspar is bar-none one of the most powerful, anointed guitar players alive today! Tommy James has said you are “one of greatest guitar players in the world.” How do you respond to such accolades?
The Word of God tells us we should practice and play skillfully a new song to the Lord with a loud sound. So I take that quite literally. Psalms 33:3, “Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.” I am also reminded of Galatians 1:10,” For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.” If you seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, all the things the Lord has assigned for you shall be given you. So all glory to God.

You do a number of conferences as well as concerts as you have for us with the Unsealed Scroll conference last year, and the upcoming Battle Ready conference in June of this year. How are these venues different for you?
I suppose the major difference is the amount of songs we get to minister with, and that in conferences I speak a wee bit longer giving presentations. The Lord tells us there is a time and season for all things. The bottom line for me is always drawing people closer to the Lord Jesus. One of the gifts the Lord gives us as spirit-filled born again believers is the gift of discernment. Without this gift how would you recognize truth from lies, and what is manifesting in someone? 1 Corinthians 12:8-10: “For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.” We must understand the Spiritual worlds to find our freedom in these End Times. As born again spirit-filled believers we ought to understand we serve the Lord who is supernatural, and that we are also able to enter and operate through this supernatural dimension according to John 14:12, because there is a world beyond the one we presently know. Science is beginning to validate the Word of God for us showing us a multi-dimensional universe. Researchers are employing methods of quantum physics to shed new light on creation to a place where we start to view the brain and mind as being multidimensional.

So without realizing it, science is proving God’s Word. And unfortunately, most believers fail to realize this as well. And with the times we are living in, it is vital that the church understand these things. In Hosea 4:6, God says, “My people perish for lack of knowledge.” I believe this is why the body of Christ is at a very emaciated place. The body as a whole is very ineffective in so many ways. In turn, God’s people are perishing.
This is absolutely true. This is why it is so important to me to get this message out – to believers, and unbelievers alike. We read in Ephesians 2:4-7, “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.” This is the spiritual resurrection from death and from our sins and iniquities and it is just as definite and complete as physical resurrection. Now that quantum physics says you can be in two places at the same time….. what should we understand here? If an electron can be in two places at once, can we be in two places at once? Electrons do it. Photons do it. In theory then, even morons can do it. The idea that you can be in more than one place at the same time has gained much acceptance today. Back in 2012 two scientists independent from the other discovered how to manipulate individual atoms and particles of light and won a Nobel Prize in Physics for their research into the unearthly world of quantum mechanics, where they concluded that something can exist in two different states at the same time. As I recall, a Frenchman named Serge Haroche and an American named David Wineland both helped to advance the pioneering of the esoteric field of physics that has already produced the most accurate clocks to date; as well as promising to develop super-fast and intelligent machines known as quantum computers. Computers that are to become self-aware. We live in unprecedented times now.

Not only are we living in unprecedented times, where prophecy is actually being fulfilled in our daily news headlines, but the body of Christ, as a whole, has no idea how important these things are, and how important it is that we understand these things.
Exactly right. But the secular world continues to prove the Almightiness of God. Basically, where Dr. Wineland put a single atom in a box, and then hit it with a photon of light, Dr. Haroche did the opposite. He placed a single photon in a box, and then hit it with an atom. Astonishingly in both cases, the experiments verified quantum mechanics. This is something Dr. Albert Einstein was mistaken about even at the individual atomic level. Without consideration of more than four physical dimensions, quantum mechanics could not be expressed mathematically as theoretically sound. So even though Einstein was brilliant, he said that quantum mechanics was “too spooky” and seems to have ruled out the supernatural in his equations, apparently. This brings into question many religious and philosophical implications. Today numbers of physicists are leaning toward the “Many Worlds” interpretation of quantum mechanics. So if the electron can be in two places at the same time, this means you can be sitting together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: For me that means I can be rocking out for the Lord whilst I worship Him forever. It also means that the universe the Lord has created is much more complex than many can even imagine. Just as the Lord enjoys a variety of different fingerprints and music as well. Yes indeed – 1 Corinthians 2:9-10,”But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” Quantum mechanics naturally paints a picture of a multiverse of universes, no matter how strange or bizarre that may seem to anyone, especially those who want to ignore the evidence of the supernatural, like the Lord Jesus walking on water and healing people of incurable sickness and diseases. He is the same Jesus yesterday, today and tomorrow. Game Changers is all about that, because we are heading into a game changer.

Pastor Caspar, you are indeed a Revelation Rocker, but you are also very knowledgeable about things that will blow the minds of the ordinary person listening to your music. You are indeed full of surprises! I encourage anyone who is reading this to check out Caspar McCloud’s new album Game Changers, and start looking into the reality of quantum mechanics and string theory, and how they connect with the Bible. These are things we really do need to know as believers. And to quote GI Joe, “Knowing is half the battle!” Which is why we feel Battle Ready is such an important event for these unprecedented times we are in. Pastor Caspar, thank you so much for sitting down with me. We are truly blessed and honored to have you join us the last weekend in June for San Antonio, Texas. And for anyone reading this, we would love to have you join us as well. We are so excited to see what God has in store for all of us.
