“The promise I’ve been holding on to is that God will never leave us or forsake us,” explained Christian hip hop artist TobyMac as he launched Hits Deep Tour 2020 last weekend. The 7X GRAMMY® winner expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone who prayed and extended messages of love and sympathy to his family since the loss of his son Truett last October.

His performance began with “The Elements,” where the audience of more than 8,000 at the Spectrum Center arena in Charlotte, NC was transported into a storm of lightning, thunder, and falling snow representing battles in life that challenge one’s faith. Then in the midst of fan favorites such as “I Just Need U.,” “Speak Life” with Ryan Stevenson, and “Me Without You,” TobyMac performs his heartrending new song “21 Years” which is about Truett’s passing. These and other moments from Hits Deep tour were captured by CCM Magazine’s Annette Holloway in the slideshow below.

Other highlights include Terrian singing her beautiful new single, “In the Arms,” and Aaron Cole, the first hip hop artist to win Dove Awards Artist of the Year, performing “Starts With Me” with TobyMac. For the confetti-filled finale “Feel It,” Tauren Wells joined the party on stage with powerful vocals and incredible energy to close out the night.

The amazing lineup in Charlotte included Tauren Wells, We Are Messengers, Ryan Stevenson, Aaron Cole, and Cochren & Co. (Jordan Feliz joined the tour 3 days later.)
