Nashville, TN (August 14, 2019)
Keith and Kristyn Getty occupy a unique space in the world of Christian music today as preeminent modern hymn writers. In re-inventing the traditional hymn form, they have created a catalogue of songs teaching Christian doctrine and crossing the genres of traditional, classical, folk and contemporary composition which are sung the world over.

“In Christ Alone” (penned by Keith and long-time writing partner, Stuart Townend) holds the #1 position of most-frequently-sung in UK churches for the past 9 consecutive years. According to CCLI, it is estimated that 40 to 50 million people sing “In Christ Alone” in church services each year—which does not include the unique reach the catalog has into traditional and classical contexts, as well as the popularity of the song throughout Asia.

The Gettys’ hymns are used increasingly both in contemporary and traditional circles, being included in most modern hymnbooks (with a number of these now listing “Getty” as the most-featured composers), while in the more contemporary church, more than 60 of their songs are featured on top 2,000 CCLI charts between the UK and USA.

The Getty Music Worship Conference in Nashville, TN exists to help pastors, leaders and musicians build a Biblical understanding and creative vision for the congregational singing in their churches. Bringing together speakers and artists from many traditions and walks of life, our desire is to encourage churches towards a deeper, more dynamic view of theology, artistry and mission in congregational singing.

Watch Keith & Kristyn Getty Lead “My Dwelling Place” at Sing18 w/ Phil Keaggy!

VERSE 1:
My dwelling place is God Most High
My refuge and my fortress
When plague and pestilence draw nigh
I’m hidden in His Presence
When terrors fall and arrows fly
His shield will be my safety
When stones across my pathway lie
On angels’ wings I’m carried

VERSE 2:
My dwelling place is God Most High
A present help in danger
I rest secure in love’s pure light
Beneath my Master’s favor
He freed me from the fowler’s snare
Where sin and shame had bound me
Deceived I’d made my refuge there
Till fearless He came for me

CHORUS:
Wonderful, powerful
My hope and my defender
Mighty God, Emmanuel
My dwelling place forever

VERSE 3:
My dwelling place is God Most High
I’ll never seek another
For I am His and He is mine
My heart He’ll keep forever
I know the Name on Whom I call
He promises to answer
With life He satisfies my soul
And crowns me with His pleasure
