Peter Johnston RVA is a Christian Indie Alt/Rock artist from Richmond, Virginia. He recently released a 7 song EP on Easter Sunday called Be Not Afraid. The songs on this project economically combine reverb soaked guitars with ambitious bass and drum textures in hopes of creating a series of mystical, ethereal landscapes for the listener.

For an indie project this is really very well done. I hear elements that remind me of artists like Jim Croce, Don McLean, Warren Zevon, early David Bowie as well as more resent artists like Mike Knott, Peter Murphy and Sufjan Stevens. I especially like the songs “Wounds I Choose” and “Of the Glorious Body Telling (Crux Fidelis).” I’m looking forward to hearing more from this artist in the future.

Peter Johnston RVA’s new project, Be Not Afraid, is the Best Thing I Heard Today!
