We Are The Monks  (Independent)
by We Are The Monks

FOR FANS OF: Mumford and Sons, Matt Maher
Rating: 2 Stars

Formerly half of independent duo Monk and Neagle, Trent Monk returns with his wife, Shellie, as new duo We Are The Monks. Their folk-infused acoustic style is pretty, but the album is slightly boring and lacks the lyrical intimacy of Monk and Neagle’s previous efforts. The duo does show some flair and creativity on the Ed Cash-produced “Rise,” which is the standout track on the record.
