“I love the opening track, ‘Shadows,’” Havens shares. “It’s a song about not being defined by your past and knowing you are the person God made you to be and to shake it off. Sonically, we pushed ourselves to do something a little different, which kind of defines who the band is in this new chapter.”

Indeed, the entire album is an exercise in sound development and sonic risk taking. Just as much care went into the art of melody as it did the composition of lyric and story.

“We pushed ourselves to craft something that didn’t sound like everything else,” Havens says. “Our drummer produced the record and pushed us to bring our best.”

While their effort and attention to detail was relentless in the studio, their overall approach to work, music and balance has shifted dramatically over the years, inspired by one of their earliest encounters in the industry.
