Maranda Curtis – ‘Open Heaven’ album review

Lifelong choir member turned leader Maranda Curtis always seems to catch the ear of worshippers and listeners in general given her extremely unique blend of gospel, R&B, jazz and all around-inspiration. The previous John P. Kee collaborator continues to branch out on her own with Open Heaven (buy), a live recording filled with prayers of varying stripes that ultimately points to an unwavering hope and practical glimpse of heaven itself. Yet no matter if she’s winding her way through a ballad or raising the roof in praise, this mega-voice manages to stir the soul with equal fervor.
