Hillsong Worship is back with their first studio album in almost twenty years, Awake. The album is a music tribute of prayer and meditation that takes the listener through the day. It is a flow up to their 2018 live worship release, There Is More. The 12-track album is the centerpiece of Hillsong Worship’s fall 2019 arena tour with Casting Crowns and Elevation Worship features the vocals of Brooke Ligertwood, Joel Houston, Taya Smith, and Aodhan King.
“King of Kings” the first single released this past summer, leads the listener through the life and resurrection of Christ, and will become worship anthem sung in churches around the world. “Awake My Soul” is my favorite song lyrically on the album that gets right to the heart of what God hears when we worship. “As He walks into the room where people pray / Where we hear praises, He hears faith.”
Awake holds a new boldness, freshness and direction for the group. Without the distraction of the live crowd, it allows those who are listening to engage and interpret the music and lyrics in their own way.
