To kick off a season of forthcoming EP’s for Derek Minor, he debuts a strong offering in Your Soul Must Fly (buy) which also features the likes of KB, Canon, Ty Brasel and more. Utilizing the collaboration card is something Minor has stressed needs to happen more in Christian music, and coming off the heels of a very successful feature with Hollyn, he proves his point. For this release, however, it’s an all hip hop affair. Track and single “Take Off” (featuring the artists mentioned above) is one of the strongest on this short set. Your Soul Must Fly is the first of four planned EP’s in the Up And Away series set to be spread out well into 2018. A unique approach from an artist who is definitely different, the seven tracks boom and bap with the best of them, and solidifies Minor as faves among rappers from Christian music fans. If Your Soul Must Fly is the launching pad for three more EP’s, we can’t wait to hear what’s next.
