New York, NY (October 1, 2018)
The rich vocals of Gospel artist and worship leader Michele Sweeting have been catching the attention of fans in her hometown of New York City since her rendition of Richard Smallwood’s “Center of My Joy” soared to #1 on Gospel charts in the Big Apple. Since that time, she’s been treating sacred music lovers to songs like “Lamb of God,” “Thank You” and “Mirror”. Now the evangelist and Motor City Praise Recording Artist returns with a brand new single entitled, “New Thing” and it’s just the type of inspiration that Gospel music fans enjoy. Penned by Stellar Award Winner Curtis Turrentine, Jr. and based on Isaiah 43:19, the ballad’s lyrics encourage believers to allow the Lord to do a new thing in their lives. The track has been serviced nationally to Gospel radio and is already in rotation on some stations. “New Thing” is available for download at iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and other digital outlets.

A beautiful song, Michele fell in love with “New Thing” the first moment she heard it. “When I first listened to the song, I thought it was amazing,” the songstress recounts. Delivered exquisitely by Sweeting, the song is sung from the viewpoint of the Lord. An unforgettable track, “New Thing” is a very personal record for Michele; it celebrates a new beginning she experienced several years ago. “For five years, both my husband and I struggled with infertility issues,” she recounts. “Given our circumstances, we feared that I would never conceive, and we even consulted an infertility specialist. But God had other plans: one month later, we learned that I was pregnant. God did a new thing in our lives! We have an amazing son to prove that despite obstacles, doubt, and fear, God is ready to do a new thing in the lives of His people. When I minister in song, sometimes my son sings with me or accompanies me as ‘Mom’s Helper.’ He is a living, breathing testimony to the fact that God does new things,” shares Michele.

Music has been in Michele’s heart since she was a young girl. She started singing at the age of four. Later, her talent was showcased at junior and high school assemblies and talent shows and contests. Winning a slew of awards for her vocal ability, she says, “All I knew is that I wanted to sing.” Aspirations of a music career found her attending the renowned Music and Art High School (LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts), also known as FAME, the inspiration for the 80s hit movie and TV show. She flourished at the institution and honed her musical skills there. However, it wasn’t until the Lord saved her that she recognized that her voice was a gift to help change lives. Once saved, she became a part of her church’s music ministry and embraced a lifestyle of worship as a member of the worship team. As one of the church’s team lead soloists, she was blessed to travel the world, including Russia, Egypt, Trinidad and Barbados, singing songs of the Lord.

Her entrance into the role of recording artist came with a cover of “Center of My Joy.” The single peaked at #1 and remained at the top of the Gospel charts in New York City for several weeks. Ultimately, the project, And The Fullness Thereof, gained national recognition and was picked up by Gospel distributor, Central South. Her sophomore release, Lamb of God, solidified Michele’s place as a premiere vocalist and was a very special project, one that reflected her renewed love for the Lord as a mother.

Now the psalmist readies her third release, Just Believe, slated to drop in the first quarter of 2019. From the feedback she’s already begun to receive from “New Thing,” fans will not be disappointed. She believes “New Thing” is an in-season word that God’s people need to hear. She also believes that the word is for her as well. She says, “I believe that God is going to do a new thing in my music ministry through this song. I just have to trust and believe in Him.”
