Sitting down with Alexandra Osteen to talk about Lakewood Music’s latest EP, Nothing Is Over, I had one of those moments. I’ve watched Alexandra and her family walk in faith both on stages and behind the scenes. So, to now see her stepping fully into her calling as a worship leader and songwriter—it’s not just exciting, it’s deeply meaningful. The new EP, Nothing Is Over, released May 30, is a five-song collection that marks a studio shift from the group’s last live project, Oh How Worthy. It includes collaborations with worship leaders Alexander Pappas and Mitch Wong, and features songs like “Full Surrender,” “Carry It Well,” and the powerful title track, “Nothing Is Over.” Alexandra described it this way: “They’re kind of songs for all different seasons, for every season, because each song has a different theme and message—all of them obviously under the umbrella of the goodness and the power of our God. But, you know, we just wanted to share these songs that are declarations of faith, that our God is a restorer, that he’s a redeemer. Songs about authentic surrender. Songs thanking Him for the cross and what He’s done for us.” From the moment I first heard the EP, I felt the weight of those words—and I could feel that Alexandra and the Lakewood team meant every one of them. Alexandra continued, “The heart behind this project is really just to give words to people who want to make these declarations of faith, no matter what season you’re in. We feel like there’s a song that someone can relate to and declare over their life in whatever situation they might be facing right now.” That heart for people—especially the local church—is what grounds her. Even with a global platform through Lakewood Church’s broadcasts and streaming reach, Alexandra says it all comes back to home. “Honestly, that’s how I stay rooted,” she told me. “We are all grateful to get to release these songs into the world and share them with other people. But ultimately, I think our first mission is our church. So, we’re writing songs that we feel like our people in our church want to sing… I’m leading worship almost every Sunday at Lakewood, in Houston, at our church. So, I feel like that keeps you so grounded and so centered.” As someone who watches Lakewood every week from our home in Tennessee, I can say firsthand—the fruit of that local-first mindset reaches far beyond the Houston city limits. Alexandra knows that, and she carries the weight of that influence with grace. “It’s just so cool to see how all these people can be brought together, you know, through church, through the ministry that God has given us,” she said. “We just do our best to steward what God has given us and to continue to preach the message that we feel is the core message of our church—that we have hope in Jesus. There’s no situation that is too far gone, no person who is too far gone, that you can’t have hope in a new beginning in Jesus.” That message is echoed beautifully in the song Nothing Is Over, which has become a personal anthem for Alexandra. “I love them all for the different messages and things that they convey, but Nothing Is Over has really become quite an anthem for myself,” she shared. “I really connect with the message of the song, that ultimately says nothing is over until God says it is. Because, you know, we all face situations where we feel like things are too far gone. We feel like we’ve wasted time or that it’s too late for us.” She points to the powerful promise in Joel—that God will restore the years sown in tears. “When you feel like the years were lost and you feel like you’ve wasted time… God works everything for good. And He can restore in a way that only He can.” That lyric—”Who restores the years that were sown in tears”—has stuck with me. It’s the kind of line that only comes from a place of deep prayer and revelation. And, as it turns out, it came together fast. “My brother brought the idea just about restoration and immediately, like, the whole song was just like tap, tap, tap, tap, tap,” Alexandra said. “And the whole song was done… From the moment, we felt that it was really special.” She also opened up about working with worship leaders like Mitch Wong and Alexander Pappas—both of whom contributed mightily to the new project. “Alexander Pappas is like one of our great friends,” she said. “He comes to Lakewood pretty often, leads with us… and love his voice. So, it’s always a joy, honor when he’s a part of our projects.” “Mitch is one of the most sweet, pure people I have ever met and is just an incredibly anointed and talented songwriter and worship leader,” she added. “He actually wrote two of the songs on the EP, ‘Thank You for the Cross’ and ‘Carry It Well.’ And funny side story—they were written in the same day, in the same session!” Alexandra’s own calling began early, singing in altar calls at age four during her families outreach events. “I had no concept of what that meant… I was just like, sure, sounds great, let’s do it,” she laughed. “I don’t think that God really spoke to me at a young age, but I do think that He planted that seed in my heart.” That seed has grown. “Through my childhood years, in my teenage years, I think it just developed more… I just really couldn’t imagine doing anything else. And I just felt like that was what the Lord had for me.” I shared with Alexandra something I’ve told her parents before—how Logan and I were walking through the hardest season of our lives when our twin girls were born prematurely. We didn’t have a local church, and yet Joel and Victoria Osteen called to pray with us. They were a lifeline. Now, watching Alexandra step boldly into her ministry—it’s such a full-circle moment. It’s the faithfulness of God playing out through generations. So, here’s my encouragement to you: listen to Nothing Is Over. Whether you’re in a season of waiting, of weeping, of restoration or of rejoicing—these songs will meet you there. Just like Alexandra said, “Whatever God wants to do with these songs beyond that, we are grateful and expectant for.” And trust me—He’s already doing more than we know.
