The song, penned by Keith and Kristyn Getty and Fionán de Barra, is a contemplative lullaby, encouraging us to “consider the stars” and to not be afraid, as the Creator of the universe promises to care for each of us. (Ps 8:3-4). This is also a call to be bold in our faith, knowing God will be with us as we stand strong against the tide of atheistic misinformation.

A devotion for topics of apologetics and faith appears to be genetic, as Kristyn Getty is the niece of Prof. John Lennox, the subject of the film. While Lennox shares his passion through debates and teaching, the Gettys are known for producing theologically anchored music for Christians around the globe.

About Against the Tide:
Internationally renowned speaker and author on the interface of science, philosophy, and religion, Dr. John Lennox has dedicated his life to standing up against the rising tide of atheism by sharing the rational foundations of his belief. Against the Tide is a theatrical-length documentary that serves as both a biography and travelogue. Veteran Hollywood actor, director, and producer Kevin Sorbo joins Lennox in the discussion, and the pair travel from Oxford to Cambridge to Israel to experience firsthand what has inspired and fueled Lennox’s passion to present compelling evidence that science and history not only align with scripture, but actively support the biblical narrative.

“Consider the Stars” Lyrics:
Consider the stars in the sky;
Look up and wonder, can you count their number?
Consider the stars in the sky;
Umbrella to hide in, a dance floor of heaven.

Do not be afraid
Do not be afraid

Consider the stars in the sky;
When it is darkest they shine out the brightest
Consider the stars in the sky
In every anguish, Oh, child take courage

Do not be afraid
Do not be afraid
He who made all of this, and who holds all of this
Holds you in his hands

Do not be afraid
Do not be afraid

Consider the stars in the sky;
Diamond in a ring. Over the Child King.
Consider the stars in the sky;
Grace He had promised, coming to find us

Do not be afraid
Do not be afraid
He who made all of this, says “You’re worth more than this,”
And holds you in his hands.
