Misty Sea Foam, Iced Mocha, Tickled Pink, Summer Blue—maybe you’ve already started collecting those paint samples, holding them up to the wall, and daydreaming about a space for your little one. Planning a nursery for your bundle of joy is one of those activities that can happily keep you up late at night. Will it be ladybugs or fire trucks that cruise across those baby sheets? Whatever your personal style, you have a blank canvas to splash your creativity onto, and half the fun is dreaming about bringing your little one home to your lovingly prepared nest. (Of course, if a new nursery just isn’t within the scope of your budget or size of your house, don’t sweat it. Your baby won’t know the difference!)

As I think about how much joy I’ve gotten from decorating a room for my little ones, my mind quickly goes to how much joy Christ must take in preparing a heavenly place for us. What delight He must have in knowing that one day soon He will bring us to a place where there is no more pain, tears, sin, or death! He knows us through and through and is preparing a place with us specifically in mind. This will be a place that provides for every longing for true rest we’ve ever had; the unsettledness here on earth we could never quite shake off; and our insatiable ache for belonging. What joy He will have when He brings us home!

Wating in Wonder is a devotional journal inviting women to embrace the spiritual journey that awaits as they prepare for the high and holy calling of motherhood.

Expecting a baby is a wonderful and exciting time for a mother-to-be. She’ll experience many joys as she shares the news with family and friends, hears the baby’s heartbeat for the first time, and bonds emotionally while dreaming about the baby to come. She’ll also experience anxieties such as the trials of morning sickness, anticipating the process of labor, and wondering if she’ll be a good mother. They are all times to be remembered and treasured for a lifetime.
