It was not your average Thursday night pizza run in La Vergne, TN.

Customers expecting the usual carry-out order were tossed into a surprise when they walked into Domino’s and found American Idol alum and Christian music star Danny Gokey—along with his wife Leyicet—working behind the counter and slinging dough like a couple of pros.

In a heartwarming (and seriously cheesy) twist, the Gokeys suited up in Domino’s red and blue and returned to their pizza roots. As part of their Better Than I Found It Foundation, the couple rolled out a plan to bless their local community. They hand-crafted pizzas and handed out boxes stuffed with what they lovingly call “extra dough”—cold, hard cash pies in addition to the hot, cheesy goodness. Yes, it’s the kind of topping no one sees coming.

This isn’t the first time Danny’s cooked up a stunt like this. Last year, he hit the streets as a Domino’s delivery driver, handing out pizza and cash door-to-door like some kind of pepperoni-powered prayer warrior.

Each box of “extra dough” was a reminder that you’re seen, loved, and valued, even when life gets a little crusty. The foundation’s mission says it best:

“We believe God has endowed people with power to transform their communities. Our goal is to find the good, shine the light, and leave it better.”

La Vergne Mayor Jason Cole shared his gratitude, saying:

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Danny Gokey for his incredible generosity and for consistently blessing the lives of so many in our La Vergne community. His positive impact has been deeply felt, and we are truly thankful for his dedication to making a difference.”

For fans of the Gokeys, it’s another reminder that their life isn’t just about topping charts. It’s about serving—in every sense of the word. And for the people of La Vergne, TN, it was a night they won’t soon forget.
