With millions already moved by his viral performance on American Idol, singer-songwriter Baylee Littrell officially releases his breakout single “Hey Jesus” today—marking the beginning of a powerful new chapter in his music journey. LISTEN HERE: https://lnk.to/HeyJesus

Originally debuted during his run on American Idol, the deeply personal track quickly became one of the defining moments of the season. Littrell’s decision to perform an original faith-based song, rather than a cover, captured national attention and resonated with audiences far beyond the Idol stage. The emotional performance has since garnered over 2 million views online, striking a chord with listeners drawn to its raw honesty and spiritual vulnerability.

We caught up with Baylee right after his American Idol run for an exclusive one-on-one interview where he told us: “I thought, I might as well hopefully try to bring some people to God while I’m here.”

He added, “I was afraid to ruffle feathers… but my mom told me, ‘This is your journey. Ruffle any feathers you need to.'”

That bold decision would go on to define Baylee’s post-Idol momentum. “Hey Jesus” was written during a time of deep internal struggle and spiritual uncertainty, something he was unafraid to speak openly about in our conversation. “This song truly… I wrote it in a very dark time in my life,” he said. “It’s more about the struggle with faith, the struggle with finding your way. A big common misconception is that God won’t let us fall down. But falling is part of the journey.”

Speaking about the inspiration behind the song in his own words, Baylee says: “Three years ago I found myself questioning everything, even the big man upstairs. The growing pains of life weighed heavy on my shoulders and I lived every day in fear of the next. At the time, I had never fully put my trust in God. I thought I had to be a certain way for Him to see me—but He took me as I was. That’s when I wrote ‘Hey Jesus.'”

“Jesus sees all of us for who we are, and He takes us as we are if we surrender to Him,” he continues. “I used to look at 2022 as one of the most dreadful times of my life. Now, I look back and see it as a time of growth for a young man who still has a lot to learn. This song is for the King of Kings—and it’s for all of you.”

The single marks the first release from Baylee’s forthcoming album, due later this year. It signals a creative shift toward introspective, genre-blurring material that fuses faith, authenticity, and emotional depth. After years of developing his voice as a songwriter, Littrell is stepping confidently into a space where honesty leads and genre boundaries blur.

Though many first discovered Baylee through his American Idol run, he’s no stranger to the stage. He made his Broadway debut at just 13 years old in Disaster! and earned a Drama Desk nomination. In 2019, he launched his recording career with the single “Boxes,” followed by his debut album 770-Country in 2020, which he performed while opening for the Backstreet Boys on their DNA World Tour. His 2022 Vol. 1 EP showcased a more personal, experimental sound, blending indie, pop, country, and rock influences—a preview of the bold musical evolution to come.

An accomplished visual artist as well, Baylee brings the same authenticity to his paintings and illustrations that he pours into his music. Whether on canvas or in song, he’s committed to connection, creativity, and truth.

With “Hey Jesus,” Baylee Littrell isn’t chasing trends—he’s chasing purpose. This release marks more than a comeback or a debut; it’s a statement. Vulnerable, honest, and full of hope, the single is an anthem for anyone who’s ever wrestled with doubt and come out on the other side holding onto faith.

Listen to “Hey Jesus” now and experience the start of something extraordinary.
