CCM: If you had only five words to describe your new album, it would be…?
Randy: Goulash, faith-filled, energizing, powerful, fun

CCM: Do you have a favorite song from the new album? Why?
Randy: Yes, ‘Promises.’ It is my favorite because the message of the song is so reassuring in a world where people let you down a lot. It’s a reminder that God is always there. And I love country music!

CCM: What led you to pursue a career or ministry in music?
Randy: I don’t know that I “pursued” a career as much as I was called to it. I have always loved music but before I chose it, it chose me.

CCM: Do you remember that moment when you realized you wanted to make an actual career out of music?
Randy: I was standing in my classroom (I was a high school history teacher), and I realized that if I was going to do music, I couldn’t keep teaching. I actually fought the idea because I was comfortable in the classroom, I was comfortable teaching. So much so, that I had to seemingly be forced out of it, but I knew that the music I was called to would suffer if I didn’t.

CCM: What are your hopes for the new project?
Randy: My hopes are that this project reaches everybody that it is assigned to. I’m hoping that we will become stronger in faith because of it.

CCM: If you could potentially tour with any other artist or band (that you haven’t already), who would you choose and why?
Randy: I’d like to tour with Deitrick Haddon and Jonathan McReynolds. They’re label family plus I feel they push the envelope of creativity.

CCM: What was the last song you listened to on your playlist or stereo?
Randy: ‘For You Now’ by Bruno Merz

CCM: What was the last book you read?
Randy: The Prophetic Responsibility by Dr. Matthew L. Stevenson III
