Steve Taylor and The Perfect Foil: ‘Goliath’ album review

Even though it’s been 21 years since Steve Taylor’s last solo album, he more than makes up for lost time with a searing collection of witty yet inspiring altrockers. Technically speaking, The Perfect Foil is a brand new supporting cast, but considering the veteran status of Jimmy Abegg (Vector), John Mark Painter (Fleming & John) and Peter Furler (Newsboys), this rhythm section’s seasoning is nothing short of stellar across a record that takes the “Roaring Lambs” concept of spiritually-inspired art worthy of widespread cultural appeal to extraordinary levels.
