Britt Nicole: ‘The Remixes’ album review

With the popularity of electronic dance music showing no signs of slowing down, remix records are becoming increasingly common and when it comes to Christian music, Britt Nicole’s catalogue is prime real estate. After all, her three studio albums to date have been ripe with bountiful beats, which leap to even greater life thanks to groove-saturated tweaks from both established and underground DJ’s/ producers. Given its vast crossover success, “Gold” (remixed by Jason Nevins) is one of the bubbliest points of connection, while “Ready Or Not” (a collaboration with Lecrae reworked by Family Force 5’s Soul Glow Activatur) adds a jolt of hip-hop to the otherwise purebred pop. It all could stand toe-to-toe with anyone in the mainstream (minus any lyrical improprieties), and in cases like “Walk On The Water,” offer a blatant invitation to faith for all audiences.
