Review: ‘Tis So SweetGail Wood August 19, 2013 ‘Tis So Sweet (Spring Hill) by Kathy Troccoli Kathy Troccoli offers rest to weary spirits in her latest album, WorshipSongs: ‘Tis So Sweet. Singing with unassuming certainty, accompanied only by a piano, guitar and occasional flute, Troccoli makes each of these classic praise songs, including “How Great Thou Art” to “Because He Lives”, a worship moment. It’s her praise, not her amped up, cranked up delivery, that soothes and restores. When she sings “I Surrender All,” there is a quiet, peaceful assurance in her voice. It’s Troccoli’s life story that offers the loudest accompaniment to this new music. Having lost both parents to cancer, her rendition of “It Is Well With My Soul” offers a telling and nuanced opening crescendo. Troccoli’s album is most definitely a healing balm for every dry spirit. — Gail Wood Leave a Reply Cancel ReplyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
