Songs for Every Soul

Songs for Every Soul takes on a difficult job—engaging in hymnody for contemporary audiences. This collection of stellar songwriters and musicians may have a tough task before them, but they’re more than up to the challenge. Firma Collective’s first effort is a great seven song EP. The first line of the first song is “There’s a place for every weary soul/ where broken lives are mended whole,” and the rest of the record is a reminder of that fact—all are welcome at the feet of Jesus. The vocalists for the project, worship leaders Lexi Jones and Matthew Scott, infuse these lyrically full songs with a depth of emotion that’s fresh and exhilarating—they sing from their gut, and it’s fantastic. Whether it’s a brand new song, like “Mercy’s Tree,” or a reimagining of a classic like “Be Thou My Vision,” Firma Collective is a God honoring, crowd pleasing hit.
