Focusing on different struggles we experience in life, Yancy was inspired to write this song after she heard a child say, “All the songs we sing [in church are] happy—how do we to go to God with pain?” Yancy then immediately penned “Even When.” She adds, “There’s a time and place for entertainment, but most importantly, we need to help kids learn how to run to God in everything they face.”
