Jon Foreman of Switchfoot Ross Cluver July 15, 2021 Nashville, TN (July 15, 2021) GRAMMY Award-nominated rock band NEEDTOBREATHE has unveiled its new track “Carry Me” featuring longtime friend Jon Foreman of Switchfoot. The track will appear on the band’s forthcoming studio album Into The Mystery, which is due for release on July 30 via Elektra Records and is available for pre-order now. “It feels so special to have Jon on the album with us. He’s an old buddy, and we share so much mutual respect for one another as artists and friends,” NEEDTOBREATHE frontman Bear Rinehart shared. “He was one of the only people who came through the studio when we were making the album. He took a COVID test, joined the band for a day, and helped us make a campfire song.” “Carry Me” is the second collaboration NEEDTOBREATHE has shared off Into The Mystery follows current single “I Wanna Remember” featuring seven-time GRAMMY Award winner Carrie Underwood. Last month, the band and Underwood delivered the television debut performance of the song at the 2021 CMT Music Awards. Crowned as one of the most showstopping moments of the evening by both US Weekly and Entertainment Tonight. NEEDTOBREATHE ‘Carry Me’ (ft Jon Foreman of Switchfoot) Official Audio: Lyrics: I chased you into the light Yeah I stayed there to see myself pure All the ashes and scars they fail They pale in comparison to yours There were footprints the size of the universe There were fortunes that no one could earn So I chased you farther still And I hope that I never return From the river’s mouth To the mountain peak Through the great divide and the valley deep I need you to carry me Carry me Carry me, I’m on my way But I’m in too deep I need you to carry me You were calling me Into the deep Into waters that no map could find You were calling me Out beyond my fears Where my darkness finds rest in your light I found a fortress where I could surrender Where my shame didn’t hide what I lacked And so I chased you out farther still Cause I know that I ain’t never coming back I found a place where the past was forgiven Where my mistakes met a grace I couldn’t earn And so I piled up my excuses and defenses in the night Then I lit a match, stepped back and watched them burn From the day I was born to the end of these seas I need you to carry me Into The Mystery was announced this Spring alongside the release of the album’s lead single and title track. In recent weeks, the band has also unveiled “What I’m Here For,” “Sunshine,” and “Chances.” Into The Mystery’s early releases have received praise from Rolling Stone, Billboard, People, American Songwriter, and more. This Fall, NEEDTOBREATHE will embark on their massive Into The Mystery Tour with support from Switchfoot and The New Respects. The 38-city trek will visit iconic venues such as Denver, CO’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre (fifth consecutive sold out appearance) and Los Angeles, CA’s Greek Theatre, and see the band perform their first-ever headline show at Nashville, TN’s Bridgestone Arena.
