Song: “The Lord Our God”

Album: Mountains Move

I wrote “The Lord Our God” with Jason Ingram. It comes straight out of the Old Testament and the story of the Israelites’ understanding the way our God was so faithful to them despite consistent rebellion. He provided for them, led them, protected them. They were going to be His people. To see the way God did that, we thought it would be so cool to write a song that captured the story of the faithfulness of God. It’s such a great thing for us to sing and to remember that no matter what darkness you’re walking through God doesn’t change. There’s a beautiful part of the Old Testament that talks about God being a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. The Israelites wouldn’t go anywhere until the cloud or pillar moved. We want to wait for God to move,.. to know that He is the light of all and all that we need. He holds my future in His hands. He leads the way and I’ll follow. It’s such a beautiful thing for us to come together and sing that forever we will say, you are the Lord our God.
