Tommee Profitt Just Dropped The Announcement We’ve Been Praying For

Sometimes you schedule an interview. Sometimes the news just walks up to you.

Last night, Amanda and I were at the Nashville premiere of Daniel and the Fiery Furnace when we ran into our friend Tommee Profitt. With The Birth of a King Live already on the horizon, I decided to ask him the question I have been asking for months:

When are we getting The Resurrection of a King Live?

Tommee looked at me and immediately asked, “WHEN IS THIS GOING OUT?”

That was a pretty good indication something was up.

Then he broke the news.

“I’m announcing The Resurrection of a King LIVE in concert at the Grand Ole Opry,” Profitt told us. “You’re the FIRST ONE to hear about it!”

So now that Tommee has officially made the announcement, we can finally share our little backstage scoop: The Resurrection of a King is coming to life for one night only at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry on March 24, 2027.

And Tommee is feeling just about every emotion possible.

“I’m so excited and terrified and all the things,” he told us. “And it’s happening.”

For anyone who has followed Profitt’s massive cinematic Christmas project The Birth of a King, the move feels like the natural next chapter. When CCM Magazine featured Tommee in our Cover Story, we went deep into the unlikely journey behind The Birth of a King and how a producer known for creating enormous cinematic worlds turned the Christmas story into something that has become a defining piece of his career.

But Profitt knew there was another half of that story to tell.

“I truly never thought this would happen… but here we are,” Profitt said in announcing the show. “After The Birth Of A King, I knew I had to tell the other half of the story. It was just gonna be an album.”

Then he heard what the music could become outside the studio.

While filming performances with a real orchestra, choir and artists, Profitt experienced the music at full scale. He told us that moment gave him the vision for what The Resurrection of a King could be live.

“This is how the music needs to be heard,” he recalled thinking. “It needs to be in a room with humans praising upward with God in the middle of it,” Profitt told us. “That’s what it’s meant for.”

Profitt’s music is built for scale. Huge orchestration, massive percussion, choirs and cinematic arrangements are part of the experience, but The Resurrection of a King gives all of that spectacle a very specific destination. This isn’t simply a collection of songs designed to sound enormous. It is the continuation of the story that began with The Birth of a King.

And now, for one night, it gets a room big enough to breathe.

“The Resurrection of a King is coming to life, LIVE IN CONCERT, at the Grand Ole Opry,” Profitt announced. “ONE NIGHT ONLY. March 24, 2027.”

Ticket presale begins September 21 at 10 a.m. CT, with Profitt encouraging fans to join his text list for the earliest opportunity to purchase tickets before the general on-sale.
