The 8 Best Morning Songs CCM Magazine Staff February 13, 2019 It’s Wednesday. It’s early. I’m not really feeling it. But that’s why there’s music! Music will help jolt us out of our malaise and into a brand new day. If you’re needing some morning-themed songs of hope or just an injection of energy, these 8 songs will get you going: 1. “Smellin’ Coffee” by Chris Rice “I’m smellin’ coffee! Birds are singin’ just outside. Here comes your mercy, streaming in like the morning light.” Ahhhh. Just. Idyllic. 2. “Good Morning” by Mandisa (feat. TobyMac) Mandisa also sings about birds singing and embracing God’s mercies, while TobyMac says the Gospel of John hits him “like a wake-up bomb.” 3. “Morning” by Morgan Harper Nichols Jamie Grace’s sister Morgan straight-up has amazing music. This song is just really, really good. 4. “Awake and Alive” by Skillet In case you need to be distortion guitared out of bed. 5. “Awakenings (The Coffee Song)” by John Waller Gimme coffee and Jesus. Yep. 6. “Wake Up” by Andrew Serino This is a good place to go after the Skillet song. Shameless friend plug here. This bro of mine makes awesome early 2000s-style alternative rock. The gang-vocalized “gotta wake up” part of this song would make a good alarm ringtone. Just sayin’. 7. “Don’t Wanna Wake Up” by Capital Kings I mean, it’s what we’re all really thinking anyway. 8. “Wake Up” by NF Because it’s never too early for some aggressive/depressing emo rap.
