On his new EP, Wherever I Go, the Canadian-born artist explores themes of faith and the unknown atop plenty of propulsive new melodies on this seven-song release. The title track was inspired by an eight-day adventure through seven countries. The result is a celebratory opener with a bouncing synth chorus that breaks through acoustic verses as Bremnes sings the realization that God is with him, no matter where he goes. The rest of Wherever I Go is an upbeat acoustic journey with just a hint of island flavor. “Up Again” includes a full horn section, and the entire project utilizes global percussion instruments. Other tracks include “Going Together,” a romantic celebration of long-term marriage and the beauty of embracing new adventures as a couple, and “Speak to Me,” which addresses the inner desperation of the disconsolate believer seeking solace in God’s voice.
