Riley Clemmons may be new to the pop music scene, but her polished self-titled debut record doesn’t feel like the work of a rookie. Combined with slick production, Clemmons’ radio-friendly messages of positivity are a breath of fresh air. This collection of songs carries the bubble-gum sound of the pop world, but the content is heavy on the grace, love, and hope of Jesus Christ.

On “Remember,” Clemmons focuses on Christ’s ability to redeem what the world would condemn. And on her breakout hit “Broken Prayers,” she reminds us that Jesus can still find us, even at our lowest. “You First” is a groove-filled reminder that man looks on the outside, but God looks at our hearts. Riley Clemmons has defied the world, and in an era of negativity, her new album is refreshing and bright.
