Jesus’s friend John describes the birth of Jesus as a light coming into the world. In Jesus, John says, was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:4-5) John goes on to say that whoever believes in Jesus is given the right to become children of God, which has been the cry of the heart for all humanity since the fall of man. We were made to be in right relationship with our Maker, and the gift God has given—“Emmanuel, light of the world, here to save”— lights the way for this peace we so desperately need. What response could we have to such a treasure but joy-filled adoration? Come, adore Christ for the way He shines His light into darkness.
