George Jones and Tammy Wynette: ‘Songs Of Inspiration’ album review

Country’s royal couple may have had their problems, but nonetheless clung tightly to their faith and wound up referencing it fairly frequently in song. Newly remastered with crystal clear sound, Songs of Inspiration compiles 26 of the pair’s beloved spiritual material in both duet and solo contexts. Though neither “The Possum” nor the “First Lady of Country Music” may be with us in this life any longer, the material they left behind is nothing short of timeless, especially for those who love good old fashioned southern stylings.
