Pax217 | Pax217 formed in 1995 and made music that bordered the edges of hip-hop and reggae-punk. Their 2000 release on Forefront Records, Two Seventeen (buy), catapulted them into brief stardom in the early years of the millennium with hit songs “Prism,” “A.M.,” and “Sandbox Praise.”

The band had a dedicated fan base called “The Voices,” named after one of their songs. Their popularity even saw them cameo and get a music video out of the Extreme Days movie.

Pax’s sophomore effort, Engage (buy), mastered the band’s sound, but they had many problems during the recording process and felt pressure to perfect the record.

The band began to fizzle out, and in 2004 released one more EP, Check Your Pulse (buy) before going their separate ways. The EP was released independently and was devoid of any traces of hip-hop. Over the years the group has done a few reunions with the latest one occurring in 2013. They have stated there is no music in the works, and the shows were a one-off thing.
