With Christmas coming around the corner faster than Santa's sleigh on light speed, malls are overflowing with shoppers and stress levels are heating up amongst the society in general. But here at CCM, we've been channeling that pursuit of worldly treasures towards a more reflective tone this season, counting down the "12 Days of Christmas" by highlighting one of your favorite faith-based artists talking about their favorite outreach organizations. Today Chris Tomlin sheds light on OneMillionCan.

On our own, we each can make a difference in the world; but collectively, we are a force for good that can exponentially surpass what we can do alone.

This is the heart of OneMillionCan.com, a movement rooted in the belief that each of us doing a little can do a lot to touch the lives of those in need around the world. While the needs of the world at times appear overwhelming, we must not be deterred by their complexity or size. The most important step is the very first step, and out of our abundance we can mirror to the world the heart of a Savior who has staked His life for theirs.
Over the past two years, more than two million dollars has been given to help those in need globally. Out of the contributions of college students and people all over the world, already three out of seven projects have been fully funded—one being clean water for African villages, another bringing freedom for sex slaves in India and another giving hope and homes for child soldiers in Uganda through Watoto. Those projects that are still in need of your help are sustainable villages for Ugandan refugees; Words of Life, which provides Bibles for people in Southeast Asia; Life Altering Surgeries for children with curable deformities; and Broadcast Truth, a radio station that shares Scripture for African/Arabic people.
I count it the privilege of my life to stand before people night after night and lead in times of worship to God. But I'm constantly reminded that there is more to a life of worship than songs. I want to use any influence God has given me to speak for those without a voice. OneMillionCan.com is a creative way that allows any person on any level to get involved. We can't do everything, but we can do SOMETHING. The causes that are listed on the site are trustworthy and do an immense amount of good. OneMillionCan is a tangible expression of loving your neighbor as yourself.
