With Christmas coming around the corner faster than Santa's sleigh on light speed, malls are overflowing with shoppers and stress levels are heating up amongst the society in general. But here at CCM, we've been channeling that pursuit of worldly treasures towards a more reflective tone this season, counting down the "12 Days of Christmas" by highlighting one of your favorite faith-based artists talking about their favorite outreach organizations. Today we hear from Leeland's Jack Mooring talking about Food for the Hungry.
We had the privilege of going to Cambodia and Bangladesh with Food For The Hungry (FH) earlier this year. As you would imagine, there are certain expectations you have for a trip like this. I feel that God went WAY beyond our expectations and taught us so many things about poverty.

The main thing that really impressed us about FH is that they're willing to stand alongside these communities as long as it takes. Their goal is to see total transformation, child by child, family by family.
My wife and I got to meet our sponsor child, Phana. Before the trip I honestly didn't know very much about child sponsorship. As I sat down with his family in their open-air hut, I was overwhelmed with the reality that FH is
actually changing lives. My sponsorship money was being used to not only help Phana, but his brother, sister, mom, dad and grandmother!
In Bangladesh we went to a Hindu community and visited a savings group that FH had started with some of the women. We heard that these women had recently started a separate savings to give to people they considered poor! Once again we saw the transformational power of the Gospel. These women, in the midst of deep poverty, were still finding ways to give.
This is why sponsoring a child makes so much sense to me. Not only do you get to change a child's life, but you help reach places that most people thought were unreachable!
Our band is so honored to partner with Food For The Hungry, and we can't wait to see what God continues to do through their ministry.
