It’s not just festival goers who are excited about the idea of Creation Festival: The Tour, though. In an odd twist, the bands seem equally excited. Kutless (a band that is no stranger to Creation audiences) frontman Jon Micah Summerall says, “We attended this festival with our youth group when we were in high school and now to be headlining their first tour is an amazing honor. We are looking forward to impacting lives together with the Creation folks and the other bands.”
Likewise, Pillar vocalist Rob Beckley sees this as fulfilling a long overdue need. “I think Christian rock needs this tour,” he states, “not only is this a strong lineup but it, more importantly, unites the masses every night through music and message, allowing them to leave stronger than they were when they came in. This generation needs that now more than ever.”
Steering clear of the overcrowded summer traveling festival season, Creation Festival: The Tour has the potential to become the standard in Christian rock package tours. Fans of annual rock packages like Ozzfest, Rockstar Mayhem, and the Warped tour at long last have a possible alternative. A place they can hear great music, be a part of something bigger than themselves, and join together with like-minded people for a cool drink from the well-spring. Only time will tell whether it succeeds, but it certainly appears well-organized and exciting.
“Whenever Jesus came to a town, people became aware of God’s love for them,” Pastor Thomas offers enthusiastically. “The intention of this tour is to bless people and their communities, both spiritually and in practical ways. We want to take this tour beyond venue walls, entering communities with God’s love and good news!”
