We asked readers to post questions for one of Christian music’s favorite chicks. Superchick’s Tricia Brock has all the answers…MyGodIsEnough asks: What is the main theme you hope to convey with Rock What You Got?Tricia Brock: Our last album was really personal. It was so much about the struggles we were going through, and this album is pretty reflective of what’s changed in us since then and constantly. Those times when we are tested and broken are the times that really shape who we become. Our reactions to things around us and in our lives determine who we will become. I feel like this album is who we are now. It tells some of the stories of the last few years—testing and broken hearts, and where our faith is after all of that. Four of us in the last two years had cancer affect our families. Two of us felt the effects of divorce in our families…money struggles…it seems true that sometimes, “When it rains, it pours…” But for me, learning how to respond to God when life hurts has changed me completely. God is the same on the days when things feel perfect and sunny and it's all what I hoped and wanted it to be, and also on the days when I feel like it’s all crumbling around me, nothing works; I’m messing up; other people are disappointing me… When I accepted that idea, things changed for me and inside me. Accept where you are, who you are and live today for all you can. Absorb the people around you, learn from them, love them, accept their love because today is a gift, and tomorrow is unknown.
MyGodIsEnough asks: What is the meaning of the name “Superchick,” and why did you decide to use it as the band name?Tricia: We met a girl whose email address was superchick11... We liked it. We thought it felt like what our band should be called…and it’s memorable.
MyGodIsEnough asks: What is the correct way to write the band name? I've seen it written most commonly as "Superchic[k],” but I've also seen it as "Superchic{k}” and "Superchick.” Tricia: Well, in the beginning, it was sometimes spelled
superchic, but then people were pronouncing it
supersheek...haha. So we added the ‘k’ and put it in brackets to emphasize the way to say it. So then people kept using the brackets on posters and things, and so some people think it’s Superchic[k], but really it’s just Superchick.
MyGodIsEnough asks: If you weren’t in Superchick, what would you be doing as a career?
