14. JustineMartin asks: Are you planning on making a new album sometime?John: We are planning on going into the studio this year. Best case scenario would be September. But definitely this year! I have about 12 songs written so far.
15. shinenstar asks: I know you guys have been in the music business for a while now, but how did you know that God wanted you to make a career of it?John: It's strange to describe how you know or hear God's calling on your life. We all have things that we want to do or feel called to do. Sometimes, though, it's hard to know what that means or where God is leading. It's no different for me in terms of music. I loved music, and it was the thing I most excelled at. The only other thing I loved like I loved music was Jesus. I could see myself being a youth minister or something. I loved evangelism. So playing in a Christian band made a lot of sense to me. I was in college trying to have a back-up plan when the Skillet thing happened. The door opened, and I was unsure if it was the Lord, but it seemed like it was. My pastor, who I was very close to, felt like it was the Lord, too. I want to stress the importance of accountability here because we can get sidetracked with all sorts of things. We need spiritual leaders to help guide us. We have to trust those leaders and trust that they want what is best for us. It's a little tricky! Most of my family was against me doing Skillet. Most of my family believed that Christian rock music was a tool of the devil as well. So this decision came with a cost to me. I had to know that God was calling me to do it without my family's approval. I am not encouraging anybody to disobey your parents. At that time I was 20-years-old. I was a man with my own conscience to deal with. And there comes a time when you have to know that what God is saying is more important than what anyone else says.
