8. HNismyfriend asks: John, in the “party party party” podcast, did you mean to do that thing with you tripping? You actually did a really good job of just continuing like that never happened. It makes me wonder if you did that on purpose.John: I did not do that trip on purpose! My knee hurt for weeks! I have watched that video at least 50 times, and every time it's funny! I don't know how I managed to roll over so fast and recover. [It] probably comes from the fact that I am strangely acrobatic, and I have this weird obsession with martial arts! I can't do any martial arts, but I love watching kung-fu theater!
9. MyGodIsEnough asks: What is your favorite memory from the tour you recently finished with Decyfer Down and Thousand Foot Krutch?John: Shooting the live DVD. There was a real excitement in the band because our fans have been asking for live material for 10 years! We have never really had much to give to them, and this time, it actually worked out.
10. tobyMacrazed asks: In what way do you think you are reaching out to people the most? Through your music, personal relationships, or what?John: I assume that we are reaching people the most through our music—especially in terms of numbers. More people hear our music by far than we talk to personally. I am always amazed at how many emails we get about our songs and how they have changed someone's life. I will say, though, the most powerful times have been when I am backstage and have a chance to talk to someone about the Lord who is not a believer. I
love that!
11. rockinwriter asks: Would you rather be known as “Christians in a band” or simply a “Christian band”? Does this label ever get in the way of anything for you guys as a band, or it is not a big deal?John: I think what people really want to know is "Are you going to actively standing up for your faith? Are you going to be open about your love for Jesus, or will you just be a band who sings 'positive' songs?" When we do secular shows with Godsmack or Saliva or Three Days Grace, I absolutely positively do
not want to be introduced as a Christian band. Not because I am ashamed of God or the fact that we do Christian concerts, [but] simply because it turns people off. They don't even know what a Christian band is; what Christianity and rock music have to do with each other; and most importantly, [if] we are going to ruin their good time they are having. They did not pay money to come to a church service! So yes, I want to be known as a band to those people. Judge me on my music, because we are not here to judge you. We just want to sing inspirational music about issues that everyone, Christian or not, is going through. And if you are looking for hope, or if you are lonely, if you are thinking about suicide or involved in drug abuse, then we have answers for you! The answers are in the music, and we want to give you hope!
